Beading/Sequins & Mixed Media Workshop

This is a 2 day beading/sequin, mixed media course for beginners and the more advanced student. The course is also ideal for students working on portfolios. You will learn a variety of techniques such as sewing beads and sequins onto fabrics, beading tassels, couching and use of bondaweb to make quick applique creating effective embellishments for your garments and fabrics.

Equipment. Please bring beading and hand sewing needles, pins, thread, scissors, tape measure, a selection of beads, sequins, ribbons, remnants of fabric, lace and anything you think would be interesting. There will be a small number of supplies available to buy. Each student may customise a garment (e.g. a skirt, jeans, dress or jacket). If you prefer to do sampling, bring some fabrics to work on.

Tutor: Janice Marr graduated from The Royal College of Art, London with a masters in Mixed Media Constructed Textiles. She is a textile artist and designer in the UK and has worked on a variety of projects from couture fashion to film, theatre and fine arts.
