Summer Holiday Courses
Dress Designing
During the summer months the Grafton Academy offers a 2,3, or 4 week introductory course in Dress Designing. Students are encouraged to design, cut patterns and make up one or two of their own creations. Teaching is by individual attention and the course provides both an ideal way of finding out about this as a career and for those who are not stock size wishing to make their own patterns. All ages are welcome, from young to mature.

Dressmaking
All ages are welcome, young to mature and teaching is by individual attention to meet different levels and requirements from basic to advanced. Students buy a commercial pattern with fabric of their choice and they are taught how to cut out, sew, fit and finish.
Beginners are advised to choose a simple pattern of a skirt or trousers to enable them to learn basic sewing techniques. Students at an advanced level may choose more complicated patterns eg. a tailored suit, but they are advised to book for more than one week.
